Vexation and Folly

I read this today and it got me thinking seriously.

He who is slow to anger has great understanding [and profits from his self-control],
But he who is quick-tempered exposes and exalts his foolishness [for all to see]- Proverbs 14:29.

Do not be eager in your heart to be angry,
For anger dwells in the heart of fools- Ecclesiastes 7:9

It got me thinking about how many times we get angry over little things and overreact. See anger makes you foolish because after you have calmed down , you start to see the things you said and the emotional trauma you caused.

Weigh your actions,if you have to apologize afterwards, then don’t do it.

Yes Jesus was angry, but hey read the scripture in Context. He was angry but he was not a quick tempered person. You are human, it is okay to be angered once in a while but it shouldn’t be the norm. So a stranger insulted your ego and you become burdened by it all day. Really?

Anger does not even exemplify who God is.

But now rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene (abusive, filthy, vulgar) language from your mouth. Col 3:8.

Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us] – James 1:19-20.

Anger will grief the Holy Spirit and you don’t want that. Now this is not the sin against the Holy Spirit. Basically, this means that the Holy Spirit living in you will be unhappy. God will not be pleased!

Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. 27 And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].29 Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin]. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor [perpetual animosity, resentment, strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence]. Eph 4:26-27; 29-31.

I hope this has blessed your heart

You are loved.
