The subject of God’s death fascinates me.

Now this idea of God dying made me commit to Jesus as my saviour and Lord. As Ravi Zacharias, would say, Jesus never answered a questioned directly. So, I will ask you, would you die for anyone? I suppose the answer would be an emphatic NO.

The idea of dying for a person is strange, isn’t it? Because at the very core, we are selfish. This is the reason for the Susan Smiths of this world, who murdered her own children, the Hitlers and the selfish leaders who embezzle state funds only to leave the scraps for the masses.

Crown of thorns on a white backgroundHumans are selfish at the core. Young boys and girls being raped, the war in the Congo and in the middle east. Yes, Humans are capable of extreme good and extreme evil. Yet, God still came to die.

Whether you believe it or not. He did die! Your unbelieve changes nothing.

Part of the reason why God would die is in the fact that a just and perfect God could simply not sweep sin under the carpet and continue as if nothing happened. As with the principle of God, sin must be dealt with! For instance, if a thief caught red-handed was excluded from  punishment by a judge, I bet you would not think highly of such a judge as that would be unjust. Therefore, since God is not unjust, someone needed to pay the price for sin and since humanity couldn’t solve the problem, He solved it Himself.

We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. Romans 5:7-8 (MSG)

As Martin Luther said “As God, He could not die, so He became man to die. On the cross, he accepted the sin of man against Himself. As a perfectly innocent man he accepted the injustice of man against man”

This brings me the to the second point of reconciliation. God would die to reconcile you to Himself.  We fell from God’s original plan and to bring us back to our initial estate, He had to pay the price by dying.  For example, if a man cheated on his wife, there may need to be some counselling and talking which might be the price to be paid before reconciliation.

Lastly, God loves us so much! This world has become so evil. He knew how bad things would get yet He sacrificed Himself to save anyone who would accept Him.

Yes! Anyone. And you are not an exception.

Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to willingly give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a good man [one who is noble and selfless and worthy] someone might even dare to die. But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8 (AMP)

He loves you so much that if you were the only one on earth, He would still have died.

Love my friend is why God- The creator of the universe- would leave His throne, glory and splendour to die.

You are the price to be won!

It is time to let  yourself experience His love.

You are loved and highly longed for.
